Metal Coating Profile Operator (commonly known as roll former)
The operator will be responsible for the production of sheet steel coating ranging from gauge 22 to 30, by operating the roll forming machine, managing raw materials (pre-painted and galvanized steel coils), and participating in related tasks such as material packaging, metal coating handling, and preparation for delivery or pick-up.
The operator will also be responsible for the maintenance of the roll forming machine (basic maintenance such as greasing, visual inspection of major components, engine check including oil level, etc., basic check of hydraulics as well as the overall condition of the roll forming machine). Note that for major repairs or problems, services of expert subcontractors will be retained.
The operator will lead a laborer assigned to production (helper).
Desired Qualities and Experience
Ideally, the operator will have more than 2 years of experience in steel or aluminum profiling on a similar roll forming machine, i.e., a machine producing steel cladding for walls and/or roofs or similar machines.
Basic knowledge in simple CNC control is an asset. A basic understanding of the mechanics of the roll forming machine, hydraulics, and general machinery maintenance is also an asset.
Above all, the desired candidate is hands-on, resourceful, curious, and willing to learn. This candidate must be reliable and punctual as they will operate the roll forming machine at the heart of the company's production.
The candidate will be trained by our current roll forming machine operator, who has over 30 years of experience with the machine in question, over several weeks.
Considering the internal training required and the importance of the position in question, the desired candidate must be looking for a stable, long-term job and not a temporary position for a year or two.
Other Details
- 40 hours per week
- Schedule from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday (little or no overtime or weekends required)
- Between $21 and $27 per hour (negotiable based on experience and training/knowledge)
- Group insurance after 6 months
- 4 weeks of vacation per year from the first year (2 weeks during the construction period and 2 weeks during Christmas/New Year), paid according to standards
- Summer/winter performance bonus (based on the performance level of the factory employees)
